Developed by NASA and built by a team of American aerospace contractors, the Saturn V was the most powerful operational rocket of the Apollo era. Standing 110.6 meters (363 feet) tall, it launched astronauts to the Moon between 1967 and 1973. With a liftoff mass of approximately 2,970 tonnes and 34.5 meganewtons (7.6 million lbf) of thrust at liftoff, Saturn V could deliver up to 140 tonnes to Low Earth Orbit and approximately 48.6 tonnes on a translunar trajectory.
