Astra (Small Satellite Launch Vehicle)
Astra Developed by Project Vayuspace, Astra is a four-stage small satellite launch vehicle designed to provide reliable and cost-effective access to Low Earth Orbit. With a liftoff mass of 162.85 tonnes, 280 tonnes of thrust, and a Thrust-to-Weight Ratio (TWR) of 1.72, Astra is capable of delivering payloads of up to 10 tonnes to Low Earth Orbit (30 km in Spaceflight Simulator). Unlike the larger Hyperion family, Astra employs a solid rocket motor for its first stage, delivering high thrust at liftoff with a simple and robust propulsion system. The upper three liquid-fueled stages progressively accelerate the vehicle, enabling efficient ascent, precise orbital insertion, and flexible mission profiles for commercial, scientific, and technology demonstration payloads.
